DIY Bandana Bracelets for the Fourth of July

These no sew bandana bracelets are a perfect craft for your Fourth of July party. They are easy to make and good for for all ages. They can be worn right away for a festive Amercana style. All you need are some bandanas, glue and fish tank tubing. Just attach the ends of the tubing together, cut bandanas in strips, then glue an end of the bandana strip to the tubing and start wrapping. Glue the end to finish off one of your bangles. Repeat in different colors to create a bracelet stack.

Refinish Old Chairs with Chalky Finish Spray Paint

Summer is here and the garage sale season is officially in progress. The popular trend of refinishing old and worn furniture into something fresh and new goes well with garage sale shopping. We have a project to share with you using our new Krylon Chalky Finish Spray Paint, Krylon Spray Wax Coating and Krylon Spray Sealer.

This chair is pretty worn and the paint is scratched. It is ready for a makeover.

We chose Slate Chalky Finish spray paint and brown spray wax.

Supplies:

Krylon Chalky Finish Slate Spray Paint

Krylon Wax Coating Spray

Krylon Matte Sealer

American Decor L'Auberge Chantecleer Stencil

DecoArt Americana Light Buttermilk Gloss Enamel Paint

Fine Grit Sandpaper

Directions:

1. Clean your chair and allow to dry.
2. Place your chair outside on paper (or a well ventilated area indoors will work, too). 
3. Spray paint the chair and allow to dry for 24 hours. This may take two coats.
4. Gently sand with the sandpaper to distress the edges and seat in places so the old color shows through. ( this is a good time to practice patience and do a bit at a time to get desired results)
5. Spray the brown wax on the chair. Allow to partially dry and then wipe the wax off.
6. Place stencil on the seat of the chair and dab the paint on top of the stencil. Gently remove when finished and allow to dry.
7. Spray the chair with the Krylon Matte Sealer and allow to dry 24 hours before using.

Make It Yourself WA State String Art

String art has made a big comeback and we think you will like this WA State wall art.

Supplies:

• Wood Piece
• DecorArt Dazzling Metallics Venetian Gold
• Americana Staining Antiquing Medium
• Piercer
• Nails
• String
• Embroidery Floss

Directions:

1. Lightly stain the wood piece with a mix of the paint and antiquing medium.  Allow to dry.
2. Apply WA state vinyl to board and peel backing off.
3. Use the piercer tool to make starter holes for the nails.
4. Pound nails in the holes inside of the vinyl WA edge and around the heart.
5. Use embroidery floss to string from the heart out to edge

Adult Coloring Nights in Bonney Lake

"Color Me Happy - It's A Grown Up Thing."

Join us for our first adult color book night on June 19th, 2015 from 5 pm - close.

WA State Floating Frame

WA State Floating Frame is made with vinyl and chalk paint. This will look great on a wall or mantle.

Supplies:

• Black Floating Frame
• WA State Vinyl
• Americana decor Chalky Finish, Treasure
• Vaseline
• Fine Sand Paper

Directions:

1. Rub a small amounbt of vaseline on a few spots of frame.
2. Paint with chalky finish paint and allow to dry.
3. Give the frame a light sanding with fine grit sand paper.
4. Attach WA state vinyl to the frame glass and peel backing off.

Hanging Slat Planter

Make this hanging slat planter for your patio or deck this summer.

Supplies:

• Americana Gel Translucent Stain
• Chicken Wire
• Sponge Brush
• Staple Gun
• Mossy Mat
• Flowers

Directions:

1. Stain the slat board with walnut gel stain and a sponge brush.
2. Allow to dry.
3. Form a cone out of the chicken wire.
4. Using the staple gun inside of the wire cone, staple the wire to the board.
5. Place the moss mat inside of the cone.
6. Place flowers inside of the wire cone and arrange to your liking.

A treat jar from home - who wouldn't like this sent to them?

Supplies:

• WA State Vinyl
• Clamp Jar with White Enamel Lid
• Sharpie Oil-Based Pen

Directions:

1. Apply WA state vinyl to jar.
2. Add heart to Mom location in state.
3. Apply sticker representing where treats are ending up.
4. Use Sharpie oil based pen to show route.
5. Use Sharpie to write message on top of ceramic lid.

DIY Best Friend Cup

This cup will make a great last minute gift for a friend who is moving away. Christy created this Best Friend Cup using vinyl and Sharpie oil-based pens.

Supplies:

• Sharpie Oil-based Paint Pens, Lime and Pink
• Decorating Your Life WA State Vinyl
• Acrylic Cup

Directions:
Apply the Wa state vinyl on the cup by burnishing firmly, then peel off backing.
Use Sharpie paint pens to decorate the cup with your message.

Mt. Rainier Photo Transfer on Canvas

Mt. Rainier photo transferred to canvas makes a great wall item.

Supplies:

• 8" x 8" Canvas
• Home is Where My Heart Is Vinyl
• WA State Vinyl
• Americana Decor Image Transfer Medium
• Photocopy/Toner/Laser Printed Image

Directions:

1. Print an image large enough to wrap around edges of canvas.
2. Paint transfer medium on canvas.
3. Put print image-side down on canvas and wrap around edges.
4. Use craft scraper (by Ranger) to work out all bubbles and extra product.
5. Allow to dry overnight.
6. Wet paper and rub off all paper possible, leaving image on the canvas.
7. Apply a thin coat of transfer medium to entire surface and sides.
8. Allow to dry completely.
9. Apply vinyl by burnishing firmly on canvas, peeling off backing slowly.

These adorable animal hats were made by our good customer Helen. The hat patterns are from a book we carry and made with Peyton's Canadiana and Cascade 220 Superwash yarns. She is making a hat for every member of her family. These hats are currently on display in our store and will be featured in our September workshop.

DIY Home Canvas

Create this chalkboard home wall art.

Supplies:

• Small Paper Mache Letters
• 12"x12" Black Canvas
• Heart Canvas Board - White
• White Acrylic Paint
• Plaster of Paris
• Jet Black Stazon Ink Pad
• Baby Wipes

Directions:

1. Mix a small amount of Plaster of Paris into the white paint and paint all of the letters.  
2. While wet, rub the baby wipes on letters to buff and distress.
3. Rub Plaster of Paris on canvas to give it the appearance of a chalkboard.
4. Rub the black Stazon ink pad on the sides of the canvas, allow to dry.
5. Apply WA State vinyl to the canvas heart board by burnishing firmly. Peel off backing.
6. Glue the letters and the heart on the canvas and allow to dry.

DIY Daddy Hero Frame

Daddy is just another word for HERO - and now you can capture that thought with this easy to make picture frame. This will make a great Father's Day gift.

Supplies:

• One Unfinished Wood Frame
• Scrapbook Paper
• Dad Is Hero Vinyl
• Be My Superhero Buttons
• Mod Podge
• E6000

Directions:

1. Place frame on top the scrapbook paper (wrong side up) and trace edges with pencil.
2. Cut the scrapbook paper to the size of the frame. Also cut out photo opening.
3. Spread Mod Podge across the entire front of frame and glue the paper down.
4. Allow to dry.
5. Attach vinyl words to the frame by burnishing firmly. Peel backing off slowly.
6. Glue the superhero buttons on with E6000.

You are ready to add a photo and your project is finished.
